Payments & Fees

One fee engine drives signup, FAQ, offer acceptance, and checkout. Figures below match live platform configuration.

Current availability: Protected card checkout is not yet enabled for live BuyerReq orders. These policies describe how eligible protected transactions will operate when the feature is enabled.

Planned protected-checkout fee

18% of item + shipping (minimums: AED 5 · $2 · £1.50 · €2)

Minimums by currency (request currency decides which applies): AED 5 · $2 · £1.50 · €2. Exact fee is shown again before you accept an offer. Card checkout is not enabled for live orders yet.

Who pays BuyerReq?

Buyers pay the platform fee on top of item price and shipping. Sellers do not pay a second commission on top of that buyer fee. Sellers receive item + shipping after successful completion, subject to dispute outcomes.

What enters the fee calculation?

  • Fee base = item price + shipping (shipping is inside the percentage base).
  • A per-currency minimum applies when the percentage would be lower.
  • VAT/tax on the fee is not added separately in the current configuration (subject to legal review).
  • Import duties and landed-cost estimates are not included in the platform fee today.
  • Card processing is handled by the payment provider when protected checkout is enabled; there is no separate BuyerReq processing surcharge line in the current fee engine.

Payment processing

Protected checkout is currently unavailable. Card payment via Stripe has not been enabled for live orders. Do not pay sellers outside BuyerReq if you expect BuyerReq transaction protection.

Seller payout eligibility depends on payment-provider (PSP) rules and account type — accepting cards at checkout does not mean every seller type can receive a payout. See ops / platform payment architecture decisions before assuming Connect eligibility.

When is the fee locked?

When you accept an offer, the order snapshots fee rate, minimum, currency, fee amount, and totals. Later platform fee changes do not rewrite that order. Fee policy stamp: v1.0.

Currency and FX

Each request declares a currency (AED, USD, GBP, or EUR). Offers and checkout use that currency. BuyerReq does not run a separate FX conversion desk. Card FX details will apply only when protected card checkout is enabled.

Refundability (subject to legal review)

  • Before payment: cancelling an unpaid accepted offer does not charge the platform fee.
  • Seller cannot fulfill / unpaid path: no capture means no fee collected.
  • Full refund after payment: when ops issues a full refund of the order total, the captured amount including the platform fee is returned through the payment rail (subject to PSP timing).
  • Partial refund: partial remedies are applied against seller payout first; platform fee treatment follows the dispute decision and may not be fully refunded on partial outcomes.
  • Buyer Protection full remedy: eligible full refunds follow the full-refund path above.
  • Change of mind: generally not a fee or purchase refund ground after payment.

Chargebacks

If you open a card chargeback, contact support promptly. Parallel chargebacks and marketplace disputes can delay resolution. Abuse of chargebacks may lead to account action. Chargebacks are decided by the card network / issuer — they do not automatically rewrite marketplace policy.

Why the fee exists

The fee funds payment handling (when enabled), fraud controls, transaction evidence, dispute workflows, verification tooling, order tracking, buyer/seller protection operations, and support — not merely listing visibility.
