Payments & Fees

Each category can have its own platform fee %. The rate at offer accept is the live rate for that request's category; accepted orders snapshot the fee so later changes do not rewrite past deals.

Current availability: BuyerReq does not process payments. Buyers and sellers Handshake to record a deal, then arrange meet, shipping, and money themselves. BuyerReq cannot refund money it never held.

Who pays BuyerReq?

The current platform fee is 0%. When a fee applies later, buyers pay the category rate on top of item price and shipping; sellers do not pay a second commission. Money for the item itself is settled between buyer and seller — BuyerReq does not collect it.

What enters the fee calculation?

  • Current configuration: all category rates 0% — fee amount is always zero; per-currency minimums do not apply.
  • Accepted orders still snapshot fee rate, fee amount, and totals (all zero fee today).
  • VAT/tax and import duties are not added as separate platform lines today.
  • There is no card checkout. Item price and shipping stay between buyer and seller.

How money works

BuyerReq does not process, hold, or guarantee payments. Buyers and sellers agree on price, confirm with Handshake on the order record, then arrange meet, shipping, and money exchange directly with each other.

After Handshake, buyers and sellers arrange meet, shipping, and money exchange themselves. Platform fees, when configured, are separate from how buyers and sellers settle money. There is no in-app card checkout in Handshake mode.

When is the fee locked?

When you accept an offer, the order snapshots fee rate, minimum, currency, fee amount, and totals. Later category fee changes do not rewrite that order. Fee policy stamp: v1.0.

Currency and FX

Each request declares a currency (AED, USD, GBP, or EUR). Offers and checkout use that currency. BuyerReq does not run a separate FX conversion desk. Card FX details will apply only when protected card checkout is enabled.

Refundability

  • Before Handshake: cancelling cancels the deal record; BuyerReq never held money.
  • After Handshake: money, returns, and remedies are between buyer and seller. BuyerReq may help with account disputes/reporting but does not refund funds it never processed.
  • Platform fee: currently 0% — no platform fee to refund.

Chargebacks

BuyerReq does not run card checkout in Handshake mode, so there is no BuyerReq card chargeback path. If you paid the other party by bank transfer, cash, or another app, resolve issues with that payment method’s provider and the other party.

Why fees exist later

When monetization begins, category platform fees would fund payment handling (when enabled), fraud controls, transaction evidence, dispute workflows, verification tooling, order tracking, buyer/seller protection operations, and support — not merely listing visibility. Until then, the product stays free so the community can grow.
